Hey, ABOG Framily!! It has been less than two weeks since I launched my first few flavors of small batch, handcrafted Soup Mixes, and the response has been so incredible that it has inspired me to create even more flavors - six more flavors, in fact, for a grand total of TEN!! But that's not even the best part!! The best part is that I have decided to make ALL TEN flavors available AT ONCE, starting this Wednesday, January 25!! Soup season only last so long, after all, especially here in Southern California, and each flavor is so different that I just want you all to be able to try whichever ones speak to you whenever you want. And to that end, although I will only be making a few jars of each flavor at a time (storage space is limited, y'all!), I have made it possible for you to pre-order these if they sell out. WHAAAAT?!?!
Ok then. Now that I've gotten you all excited (or maybe that's just me), please allow me to introduce the FULL lineup of A Bite of Good Soup Mixes!! Each flavor is made using a different A Bite of Good Spice Blend, which makes them a fun way to explore new flavors and get inspired for your own spice blend adventures. So whether you're stocking your own pantry or looking for a great gift, I've got you covered!
Long live Soup Season!!!
Yeah yeah yeah. I know this isn't a soup. But it's comfort food in all the same ways as soup and is just delicious, so I couldn't resist. Try it for yourself, and you'll understand. It's deeply flavorful and gets a nice spicy kick from my Cajun Spice Blend.
I didn't grow up eating a lot of lentils, but this mix (and the Moroccan Lentil Soup Mix below) have made me a convert. This soup gets a double blast of coconut flavor - the first from creamy coconut milk and the second from a brand new spice blend called Spicy Coconut Curry Blend, which starts with toasted coconut and gets a kick from California chiles.
Herby Chicken Noodle Soup
This is so much more than your ordinary Chicken Noodle Soup. It gets an herby, lemony blast from my Greek Island Spice Blend and is the perfect way to make anyone feel better.
Italian Barley & Tomato Soup
Barley is an amazing ingredient in soup. It has a nutty flavor and a slightly chewy texture that really sets it apart from pasta or other grains you might add to a soup. This mix is seasoned with my Frutti di Mare Spice Blend, a delightful combination of Italian-inspired herbs and spices, and the flavor gets pumped up even further by sun-dried tomatoes.
Moroccan Lentil Soup
Rich and hearty, with a complex spiciness from my Five-Chile Harissa Spice Blend, I could honestly eat an entire pot of this soup on my own.
Pasta e Fagioli
Made with a trio of beans and tiny pasta shells, this delicious soup gets its fun smoky and herbal notes from my Gaucho Spice Rub and a subtle umami boost from nutritional yeast, which mimics the parmesan rind usually used in a traditional Pasta e Fagioli recipe.
Relajo Three Bean Chili
This chili gets its unique flavor from my Five-Chile Relajo, which is essentially a dry rub version of a Mexican mole. It's a complex blend of chiles, herbs, spices, seeds and cacao, which will make you wonder how you ever settled for plain old "chili powder."
Spicy Tex Mex Soup
Like Tex Mex cuisine itself, this soup mix is an absolutely delicious mashup of all kinds of delicious things. Part chili, part soup with a wild rice blend mixed in for funsies, this soup is a spicy party in a jar, thanks in part to my Taco Spice Blend. And whether you keep it simple or serve it with all your favorite chili toppings, you really just can't go wrong.
Split Pea Soup
Seasoned with my Ranch Spice Blend, this is anything but that boring bowl of green puree you might remember from your childhood. And my suggested additions of ham and fresh spinach are sure to knock your socks off.
Wild Mushroom Barley Soup Barley and mushrooms are pretty much a match made in soup heaven, and this mix takes that match to a new level with my Italian Countryside Spice Blend AND some more dehydrated wild mushrooms to boot!
